When someone has been married numerous times, is that considered adultery?

Matthew 5:32

ESV - 32 But I say to you that everyone who divorces his wife, except on the ground of sexual immorality, makes her commit adultery, and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.

If someone is keeping a journal on their sins then I guess it matters that you know if an action you have taken or is about to take should be listed in the sin column. If you've already done the deed there's nothing that can undo it. If you haven't then yes, it helps to know. Other than that, it's only a part of an extensive record of a wretched life.

There is none who does good (Psalm 14:1, Psalm 53:1, Romans 3:12).

But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God from the beginning chose you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth, to which He called you by our (the) gospel, for the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ (2 Thess 2:13,14)

Did you catch that? God chose the redeemed (you) before you or anyone else ever married anyone! Plus, it is the Spirit who cleans us up (sanctifies) us up to the glory of our Lord Jesus.

And this too: God demonstrates His love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans5:8).

It matters if we commit adultery, I'm not trying to obfuscate the seriousness of it. But in the big picture of life, it does us no good to remember what God has put away from us, when Jesus paid the penalty for every sin with His death.

However, not enough information is given to determine if Moses' law concerning marriage has been broken. Did anyone die? Did anyone break the marriage vow by committing adultery? The law has conditions..
