Why is Satan capitalized in most Bible translations and the devil is not?
Is there a reason that "Satan" is often capitalized but "the devil" is not, when they both seem to be titles or even names?

I would say that "Satan" is capitalized because it is regarded as a proper name (meaning "the Accuser") that belongs to one specific spiritual being. The word "devil" is not a proper name but a common noun. It is a generic term that can apply to Satan, but that also describes any of the evil spiritual beings who joined Satan in his rebellion against God, and who still follow and serve Satan today.
