✿ Timothy had “apostolic” power like Paul (1Tim. 4:14; 2Tim. 1:6). As an Apostle, he has the potential powers to do all the five fold ministries in a nutshell. He is called Timothy in many references. (2Cor. 1:1; 1Tim. 1:2,18; 6:20; 2Tim. 1:2; Phm. 1:1; Heb. 13:23). Converted by Paul on his first trip (Acts 14:6-7 with 1Tim. 1:2). Part Jew and Greek, uncircumcised, but a good Christian (Acts 16:1-3). A miracle worker like Paul (1Cor. 16:10). Paul's companion from here on (Acts 16:1-3; 17:14-15; 18:5; 19:22; 20:4; Rom. 16:21; 1Cor. 4:17; Php. 2:19). On a mission (Heb. 13:23, note). It is believed by some that he was Paul's scribe in writing Hebrews and Galatians. He had the gifts of the Spirit (1Tim. 4:14; 2Tim. 1:6). He was a great student of Scripture (2Tim. 1:5; 2:15; 3:15).

✿ Timothy was circumcised because of the Jews. Otherwise Jews would not hear him preach or have anything to do with him if he was not circumcised. It did not save him or curse him for he did not go back on the gospel. Under the circumstances, to speed the gospel it was wisdom to do so. The same Paul refused to circumcise Titus because of time and circumstances (Gal. 2:3-5). Paul did his best to win the Jews (1Cor. 9:20 Rom. 9:1-3), but when it came to compromising the gospel and teaching law keeping as necessary to salvation, there he drew a line (Gal. 2:1-21).

✿ Paul’s Tenfold Charge to Timothy with Apostlic power 
❶ Preach the Word (2Tim. 4:2). 
❷ Be instant in season--when you are disposed (2Tim. 4:2). 
❸ Be instant out of season--when you are indisposed (2Tim. 4:2). 
❹ Reprove. Greek: elengcho (G1651), confute; convict; convince (Jn. 16:8). 
❺ Rebuke. Greek: epitimao (G2008), to penalize; find fault with; rebuke sharply. Translated "rebuke" (2Tim. 4:2; Mt. 8:26; 16:22; 17:18; 19:13; 20:31; Mk. 1:25; 4:39; 8:32-33; 9:25; Lk. 4:35-41; 8:24; 9:42,55; 17:3; 18:15,39; 19:39; 23:40; Jude 1:9); and "charge" (Mt. 12:16; Mk. 3:12; 8:30; 10:48; Lk. 9:21) 
❻ Exhort with all longsuffering and teaching (2Tim. 4:2). 
❼ Watch in all things (2Tim. 4:5). 
❽ Endure afflictions (2Tim. 4:5).

If the term "evangelist" denotes an individual who attempts to spread the Gospel message, and to convert others to Christianity, then I think that the Bible clearly indicates that Timothy was an evangelist. In fact, Paul himself described Timothy as such in his second letter to him when he said in 2 Timothy 4:5, "As for you, always be steady, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry."

Also, it was specifically to facilitate Timothy's evangelistic work among Jews that Paul had him circumcised as an adult (Acts 16:1-3). (Timothy had not been circumcised as an infant (as was the normal Jewish custom) because, although his mother was Jewish, his father was Greek.)
