Most social groups like college sororities and fraternities are "secret" organizations. They keep their membership "commitments" secret and usually involve an oath. That means you are given an oath to take without knowing what it is in advance. And the oath you must pledge yourself to is administered in secret. If you join one of these makes sure what you're going to be asked to "commit" to before you get to that point. If they won't tell you then say "Thanks but no thanks.".
