If you want to be technical, we are all children of Adam and Eve and the only ones not so were the Nephalim which were not of God and God wanted eliminated because their existence defied God's creation. We see genetic manipulations today in labs called chimera. 

Adam and Eve were from God as was all animals and plants God created. Manipulation of the genetics made defiled creations. In the sense of creating life, only God creates life. In the sense of manipulating life it is done far too much from around Noah's time on -before and after the flood.

At the time of mankind's creation there were no aberrations in genetics - all was pure. On the Ark God placed pure humans and pure animals, not those defiled.

Over time our genetic structure grows weaker and weaker. This is seen with animals like some in the canine family. From a purer wolf to a weaker poodle (near the bottom of the gene pool). Adam lived long because sin took so long to tear him down so he could die. As time went on life spans were shortened. Our extending life spans today does not help our weak genetic structure compared to our not so far off ancestors.

If Adam and Eve's children intermixed to be fruitful and multiply their genetic structure was no factor then. Now intermixing of closer family members creates anemia and other problems. It is wise to marry another genetic line of Adam's race more often than not though the strengths and weaknesses of each individual result in a new offspring.

God set the limits through the laws given by Moses. Though we are no longer under Mosaic Law we are under the Laws given Moses and mankind to Moses to follow and propagate. Jesus kicked out the Mosaic laws but His never change. HOWEVER, though we have liberty through Christ Jesus we can learn a lot from Moses laws and ruled for better health and good practices. Penalty for not doing what Moses said no longer applies but we would be wise to learn from Moses and live healthier and happier as a society and people of God ourselves.

I'd say that one must infer from the Biblical account that Adam and Eve had other children (both male and female) who are not specifically mentioned in Genesis, and that it was intermarriage among those children and/or their immediate descendants that resulted in the population of the earth.

God did not give a specific command forbidding male-female relationships that would be sufficiently close to be considered incest until Leviticus 18. (These commands prohibited relationships that God had apparently permitted (or at least not punished) earlier, such as Leviticus 18:18 forbidding a man to marry two sisters (as Jacob had previously done with Rachel and Leah, for example (Genesis 29:15-30)), or a man to marry his half-sister (Leviticus 18:9), as Abraham had previously done with Sarah (Genesis 20:12)). 

Since (again, according to the Biblical account) Adam and Eve (and, later, the three sons of Noah) were the progenitors of the entire human race, it could be said that, even to this day, all humans are related in some respect (although, in most cases, those relationships would by now be very distant, indeed).

It is well known scientifically that mutations accumulated over a lifetime result in aging and death. That those who mutate rapidly die earlier (eg Progeria). Also it is known that one cannot have close relative intermarrying because in these situations mutations are usually located on the same genetic sites (alleles) resulting in children with abnormal birth defects.

Adam and Eve were mutation free coming directly from God. Mutations accumulated as generations grew up further and further away from Eden. Hence the long live spans of those early generations (>900 years) and the declining lifespans with time after Eden.

Also, because of the low mutation load in the early generations one could have close relative conceptions. However as the mutation load increased God forbade close relative intermarrying (Lev 18:6-17).

Mutation studies on Y chromosomal and mitochondrial DNA confirm that we came from one man and woman and that there were no human populations 200,000 years before Adam and Eve.

So in short genetic studies concur beautifully with the Word of God which is not surprising because the Bible is absolute truth inspired by the Holy Spirit (2 Tim 3:16).
