I would say that, first, Adam alone (prior to the creation of Eve) was the one to whom God had directly given the command not to eat the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil (Genesis 2:16-17). He therefore bore primary responsibility for seeing that that command was obeyed, as well as the consequence for disobedience.

Second, Adam may then have added to God's command, or otherwise not made it clear to Eve, as indicated by her apparent misunderstanding that God had forbidden Adam and Eve from touching the tree (Genesis 2:17; Genesis 3:3). This would thus have been a failing on Adam's part. Eve could have had an excuse for being deceived, but Adam (to whom God had spoken directly) did not. 

Third, Eve was created as the "weaker vessel" (1 Peter 3:7) and as a "help meet" for Adam (Genesis 2:18-23), which implies to me that Adam had a leadership responsibility in God's eyes that Eve did not. Adam's yielding to Eve in also eating the fruit thus represented further culpability on his part. 

Fourth, God specifically told Adam (not Eve) that the entire earth was cursed because Adam had allowed Eve to persuade him to eat of the fruit, and also that he would die (Genesis 3:17-19).

In offering an answer, I would like to start with the Solution. Romans 5:1-11, tells us what God did to remedy the Sin NATURE that was passed to all after original sin.

Then Romans 5:12 tells us that sin is from one man, the First Adam. So we know Adam was the blame because God's Word through Paul tells us so.

Romans 5:13-20, then Gloriously tells of God's Grace, through Jesus.

Finally 1Corinthians 15:45-49 the Second Adam gives us the opportunity to have our earthly fleshly sin nature converted and changed to a spiritual heavenly nature, through what Jesus did for us.

May we know that beyond the Blame, came the Blood. God does indeed hold us accountable for our Sin, but He immediately provided the Sacrifice that reconciled those who are washed by the Blood back to Him.
