Jesus came to save the lost (sinners). The "Word" states that there's no greater Love than for one to lay down his life for a friend. Jesus, calls us friends and laid down His life for us all. Now, we can accept or reject His offer of friendship. He will respect our choice. Jesus said, if you Love me, keep my commandments. All of them are summarized in (1) Love the Lord with all your heart, etc., and (2) Love your neighbor as you love yourself. Do unto others as you would want done unto you. Your gay friend is like your neighbor. As a straight Christian you have a golden opportunity to display both in words, deeds and actions, the Love of GOD. In doing so, you will be fulfilling the Great Commission. Now, If the influence of your gay friend makes you (by word, deed and/or action) an enemy of GOD and His "WORD" then there lies the error. The "WORD'" of God poses the following question: How can two walk together unless they agree? May your actions be such that your friend will undoubtedly see The Christ in you to the degree that he/she will greatly desire the same Spirit and strength and power that you have received to overcome your sin(s).
