These 3 scripture foundations come to mind:

1. His word: "...If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed." (John 8:31)

2. His love: "As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love." (John 15:9)

3. Himself: "I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing." (John 15:5)
