Paul called love is the fulfillment of the law. This recalls the teachings of Jesus.(Matt.22:35-40 Mark 12:28-31). The law is not only an expression of God's character. It points to his original created order, his vision for how the universe should work. However, sin always distorts what God created to be good. It always causes harm.

Love is the source of love, grace is the expression of love and the Holy Spirit is transmitting that love to us. God is the source of love, Son is the grace of love and the love is transmitted to us by the Holy Spirit. Therefore, love and Trinity exist together. In fact, God is love (1Jn.4:8)

Sin and love cannot co-exist. Love does not commit or condone adultery. Love cannot murder. Love cannot deprive another person of his possession. Those are all actions that serve self at the expense of a victim. There no such thing as a victimless sin.

For Paul, love embodies the highest ideals of the new kingdom that Jesus will establish and enforce upon his return to earth. At that time God's original created order will be restored. The apostle desires that all believers become living examples of this new kingdom. Just like in the beginning, before the fall, people are to be righteous because he is righteous. They're to love one another because God is love. They are to live according to the truth because God is truth.
