What happened to Ezekiel's prophecy of 40 years of utter desolation and Egyptian exile?

Ezekiel's prophecy in Ezekiel 29 predicts 40 years of utter desolation and an Egyptian exile. By all accounts there is no historical or archaeological evidence that this actually happened. Did Ezekiel get it wrong?

Ezekiel 29:1 - 21

ESV - 1 In the tenth year, in the tenth month, on the twelfth day of the month, the word of the Lord came to me: 2 Son of man, set your face against Pharaoh king of Egypt, and prophesy against him and against all Egypt.
