Do you think that God can relate to you?
Many people look at God as some type of Grandpa. They really think that because He has so many standards He can't relate to us. I remember thinking to myself before I became a Christian, "God you just don't understand how hard it is not to give in to temptation." Man was I wrong.

I'm pretty sure God can relate to us. After all, Jesus experienced the following: 1. He suffered hunger (Matthew 4:2) 2. He suffered temptations (Matthew 4:3,6,9) 3. He suffered ridicule (Matthew 26:67) 4. He suffered betrayal (Matthew 26:74) 5. He suffered torture (Matthew 27:35) 6. He suffered fear (Matthew 27:46) 7. He suffered death (Matthew 27:50) I don't know about you, but I think its we who can't relate to God. Christianity is the only "religion" where God came down to serve man, where a God "dirtied" His hands to live among us, where a God suffered pain and death for us. In my personal opinion, this is a God that truly has a father's heart, for what father or mother would not die for their children? Can you think of any other god who does the same? He understands us more than we think.

Absolutely! In fact, our Father God not only can relate to us, but He longs to relate to us more deeply and freely, hence the reason He sent His Son, Jesus, to die for our sins. That being said, it can certainly be difficult to imagine that the God who created the universe can relate to us as a friend, brother, father, etc... but scripture indicates that He wants to relate to us intimately. Jesus was the embodiment of the personal facet of God when He walked the earth. In John 15: 15 Jesus says, "I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you." God's desire is that we relate to Him as an intimate friend, knowing all that the Father taught Him and working alongside Him in His Father's "business." Matthew 11:19 says, "The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, 'Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.' But wisdom is proved right by her deeds." While we know that Jesus was not actually guilty of gluttony and drunkenness because He was completely sin-free, His choice to keep company with the worst of sinners (according to the religious community) raised questions about His integrity in the eyes of those that sought to discredit Him. This did not concern Jesus at all; He wanted people from all walks of life to know that He loves them and that He desires fellowship with them. So my answer is yes, God can relate to you, me and anyone who desires to relate to Him. As someone who has served Jesus for my entire adult life (I am almost 50), I find that the more I give myself to knowing Him, the more personal He becomes.

I believe God can relate to me. His son Jesus went through things so much worse than we could ever imagine and God watched him suffer and suffered with Him. I believe God knows our every pain, and if we give them to Him then He can help us through them. He understands what is happening to us more that we do, but as humans we have a hard time giving our problems to Him and trusting Him with our lives. I think we need to have the faith and trust God with our problems and serve Him with everything that is in us. No matter what.

Wow, one of the biggies. The longer I walk with Jesus, the less I ask this question, but it is difficult to comprehend. But He is God, He did send His Son as a human(Christ suffered deeply in the Garden in anticipation). Remember, every emotion we have comes from God, we just don't present them perfectly. We are made in His image, (which I view more spiritual than physical). So, yes He can relate, probably to us as we would to an infant or toddler.
