Why did God choose Aaron's sons to perform the duties of priesthood and not Moses' sons?

Exodus 29:1 - 46

ESV - 1 Now this is what you shall do to them to consecrate them, that they may serve me as priests. Take one bull of the herd and two rams without blemish. 2 And unleavened bread, unleavened cakes mixed with oil, and unleavened wafers smeared with oil. You shall make them of fine wheat flour.

I can't cite a specific verse of Scripture, but my idea would be that Aaron's sons were chosen because they would have been descended from Abraham through his son Isaac, his grandson Jacob, and his great-grandson Levi on both their father's and mother's sides. Although Moses was also a descendant of Levi, as well as Aaron's brother, Moses' sons Gershom and Eliezer (mentioned in Exodus 18:1-4) were born to a non-Jewish (Midianite) mother, because of the circumstances of Moses' marriage (Exodus 2:11-22).

(The Midianites were descended from the sons that Abraham had with Keturah, whom Abraham married after the death of Sarah (the mother of Isaac, and thus the grandmother of Jacob, and the great-grandmother of Levi (Genesis 25:1-4)).
