One of the greatest signs of David's integrity is when he found Saul and his men sleeping. He could have killed Saul and launched himself to the throne. But he trusted God and believed in waiting on the Lord and did not take things in to his own hands.

What a lesson that is for all of us. Not to take what God has given before the time He has appointed for it to be. We want to run ahead of God like Abraham did and produce our own good. But when we do we create folly instead of the plan God has for us.

David depended on God, believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. When God is on the throne of our lives, we will wait upon Him, and not run ahead.

David had humble beginnings as a shepherd boy. But he watched over the sheep as though they were the children of God and protected them as though it was his only duty.

David did not always do right, but he wanted to. His heart was toward God even though he was still flesh. David knew his strength came from God. David was a man after Gods own heart. It was his love for God that made him want to serve Him with all of his heart.
