I dealt with this issue when I was trying to sort out where my feelings came from. To hold a thought captive meant I had to identify where the thought came from and then decide. I had to figure out was this thought a natural, human thought, a spiritual thought or was it an evil thought. I had to realize that some thoughts were nothing to dwell on. My other thoughts, like to open the car door, were just thoughts on trying to escape a situation. The devil had no control of your mind. Hold every thought captive and bring every thought to the obedience of Christ. II Corinthians 10:5
