Agnosticism is like a person who shows signs and symptoms of having cancer. Some doctors are telling him yes you have cancer and some are saying no. As such, the person takes no action because he's "not sure." Logically, the best course of action would be to proceed as if you had cancer and get treatment. Ignoring all the evidence that is plainly seen will surely result in death. Getting treatment will result in getting cured.
Agnosticism is the belief that with our limited knowledge of the universe, we cannot know whether God does or doesn't exist. That is, even if a being stood before you and proclaimed to be God and seem to have all the attributes that God had, how could you as a human test that it was God, let alone prove it? You just wouldn't know if it was or wasn't God. As such, agnostics believe that it is better to live with uncertainty, rather than to risk worshiping the wrong God and being condemned for that.
Agnotics are not sure whether God exist or not. It is the result of an attempt to understand God through the five senses by which we interact with our world. But since God cannot be discovered by scientific evidence or senses - his existence is rather clearly seen in the things he created. The agnostics conclude that the existence of God cannot be proved or disproved. If the theist is a believer, the atheist is an unbeliever and the agnostic is faithless or a doubter
