Great question! I will only deal with not saying mean things to other people, especially if they are mean to you first.

Proverbs 12:18 - There is that speaks like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is health.

Proverbs 15:1 - A soft answer turns away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.

James 1:26 - If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridles not his tongue, but deceives his own heart, this man's religion is vain.

Ephesians 4:29 - Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

Proverbs 18:21 - Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

Proverbs 21:23 - Whoso keeps his mouth and his tongue keeps his soul from troubles.

Proverbs 15:4 - A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit.

Psalms 19:14 - Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

Psalms 34:13 - Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.

Luke 6:45 - A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

Matthew 18:15 - Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.

Proverbs 11:9 - An hypocrite with his mouth destroys his neighbor: but through knowledge shall the just be delivered.
