I, too, had the same questions and researched and researched and found this: Perhaps because God made man in His image. The image of God is sacred. We have spiritual qualities. Jesus said, "Of how much more value is a man than a sheep!” in Matthew 12:12. Our value to God is so high that His Son died for us. God blesses us and sustains us. Humans possess conscience, purpose, and an impulse to worship.
