If you read the context of the passage, which is from 2 Timothy 3:1-9, it is talking about false believers and false teachers, scoffers and those who give an outward appearance as a believer, but who are fakes. They are dishonest in their speech and actions, and they lead astray those who are easily led by their false teaching.

The word "captured" is not a literal carrying away but of being carried away with the seduction of what is being said. You could also say that these people are easily led because their itching ears are hearing what they want to hear.

The rest of the passage fits nicely together with Paul's admonishment to Timothy that he had followed his (Paul's) teaching and the life he lived in Christ. The passage ends in 2 Timothy 3:14-17, where Timothy is encouraged to continue in what he has learned and how the Word of God is breathed out from God himself... the context being that continuing in the Word of God will equip you and help you to not be pulled in by false teachers, prophets etc - you will learn discernment.

All we have to do is look backwards to see to whom Paul is referring.

2 Timothy 3:2-5 (ESV)

2 For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,

3 heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good,

4 treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,

5 having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.

Paul then says in verse 6 that among the above listed people are those who worm their way into homes to make captive weak women.

2 Timothy 3: 6 For among them are those who creep into households and capture weak women, burdened with sins and led astray by various passions,

Most of those descriptions in 2 Timothy 3:2-4 are very easy to understand.

Lovers of self

Lovers of money

Proud

Arrogant

Abusive

Disobedient to their parents

Ungrateful

Unholy

Heartless,

Unappeasable, (greedy, Ravenous, like teenage boys at supper time…)

Slanderous,

Without self-control,

Brutal,

Not loving good,

Treacherous,

Reckless,

Swollen with conceit,

Lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of god,

These are those who worm their way into households capturing weak women.
