What does Moses mean by saying God is "fearful in praise"?
In the "song/praise" of Moses, after crossing the Red Sea, what does he mean when he says God is "fearful in praise"?
Exodus 15:11
KJV - 11 Who is like unto thee, O LORD, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?

"or in the things for which He is to be praised," is how Jill Gill's Exposition of the Bible starts out to explain this verse, also noting Psalms 106:22- how terrible or awesome are the things God does. For example bringing the children of Israel out of Egypt by terrible plagues, parting the Red Sea, which killed the Egyptian soldiers yet allowed the people to cross over. God always keeps his promises and one day Jesus Christ will come back on that Great and Terrible Day of Judgement. Yet we, those who believe in Him and wait for Him, will praise Him, that terrible Day when Jesus will give us the victory. We will give Him praises on that fearful day.

Personally, I like the translation better of the VOICE BIBLE: "Who compares to You among the gods, O Eternal? Who compares to You—great in holiness, awesome in praises, performing marvels and wonders? "Praises" might be better seen as "praiseworthy deeds or acts." bible.org For example, see Psalm 66:5 -- "Come and see what God has done, his awesome deeds for mankind!"
