Is there any difference between Scripture and the Word of God?

Jesus said, “You search the Scriptures, because you think that in them you have eternal life” (John 5:39). He did not say “You search the word of God”; he said, “You search the Scriptures”.

The Word of God is a message or communication from God to man. The greatest and most important word that God has ever spoken to man is his Son Jesus Christ. (John 1:14)

What is the difference between, and the relation between, scriptures and the word of God?

Good point!

The Word of God is a person, not a book.

Hello there..
In John 5:39..Jesus is saying to the pharisees who are rejecting him, you cannot study the scriptures without seeing me.The word is Jesus and the scriptures are too.The scriptures are inspirations from him and the Father (still their words, but in print) regarding his coming and dying for us, a guide for our survival, and teaches us how to combat the enemy..Isaiah 55:11 God's word does not return unto him void..John 1:1 in the beginning was the word. The word was with God and the word was God. John 1:14 the word became flesh..Ephesians 6:17 The sword of the spirit which is the word of God. Colossians 1:17 He is before all things and by him all things consists. So here we see Jesus is the word and by him all things are. When Jesus fasted for 40 days and 40 nights the devil came to tempt him..He responded with the sword of the spirit which is the word of God by saying.."it is written" Matthew 4:7 Jesus responded to satan with "it is written" several times. What was written was within the scriptures. His words made to print spoken by him demonstrating the power of them.James 1:22 don't just be listeners of the word, but doers of the word. We have authority over the enemy by speaking the word of God as Jesus did to satan by quoting his own words written from the inspiration of him and the father.

Vincent, yes the Word of God is a Person (John 1:1; John 1:14 and Revelation 19:13) and this truth has been revealed to us through the Scriptures (the Bible). If this book is not the Word of God, then is it simply the words of fallible men and if so, how can we trust any of its claims about the divinity of Jesus, salvation, Satan, sin etc.?

The Bible (all Scripture) is inspired by God Himself (2 Timothy 3:16) so it is His written Word to us.
