World peace is a beautiful ideal, but one that will be realized only when Jesus returns (Revelation 21:4). Until that time, peace throughout the world will never occur. Jesus said that until the da...

Paul wrote to the Christian community in Romans 12:18 stating: "If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men." I too believe we should promote a peaceable coexistence with all people, as much as possible.

Speaking to the disciples in Matthew 10:34 and following, Christ said: "Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword." v.35 "For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law." v.36 "And a man's foes shall be they of his own household."

Our savior was/is of a loving, kind, compassionate, a Godly nature. However, he was also a man's man and not the spineless model of humanity promoted by much of professing christiandom today. Certainly, his persecution and death was forordained by the determinate counsel (Acts 2:23) but we must also remember that His unwavering, uncompromising truth caused most of his own people to hate him. Yet he was fearless, mixing it up with Israel's religious elite and stood fast in the presence Rome's procurator.

Yes dear Christian, we should diligently endeavor to get along with others the best we can but never at the expense of compromising core, foundational truth.

As I heard one preacher say, "We should feed the sheep but shoot the wolves."

Jesus Christ said, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God. Matt 5:9. A Christian should always strive to be called "A Son of God". There are many ways to be a peacemaker and we should always strive to bring peace between individuals, groups, nations for knowing Jesus Christ is knowing true peace. Jesus is Peace.

Of course Christians should promote world peace. It will not be achieved, but all Christians must make the effort. To do otherwise would be against Scripture. Only Jesus' return will cause world peace (Revelation 21:4). How many time must one hear and read Scripture before it's meaning is revealed?

I can read a chapter of Scripture 10 times and get something different from that passage each time I read it. God never stops revealing truth; never stops working on our behalf. Christians can never stop striving for peace, at every level of our lives. To do otherwise is unthinkable.

Remember, a hardened heart never stopped Jesus.
