Should we love our neighbor as much as we love God?

For according to the teachings of Jesus, you can't claim to love God if you do not love your neighbor. For the love of God should be mirrored in how we relate with the neighbor. Yet how is one to manage this without err? For one could be compromised to think that by expressing their love for God, they have no obligation to the neighbor. Yet the desire to express the love for the neighbor could compromise one in how they relate with God. Where should the balance be? 

Mark 12:30 - 31

ESV - ³⁰ And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. ³¹ The second is this: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these.
