...At times, Christians should feel a sense of shame about some quarters in the Christian world that dismiss all thoughts of ecology; every attempt to address the necessity of "greening this planet." They snigger at every suggestion from an environmentalist.

"The Lord is coming soon," they say, "and we should focus only on evangelism."

Yet, protecting God's handiwork is, in fact, evangelism. It is honoring God the Creator. "...God saw all that he had made, and it was very good." (Genesis 1:31) NIV

When industrialists, land developers, and others who should be preserving the environment pay little attention to proper land management it is quite literally thumbing their nose at God's creation.

The mistake that is made by so many in the environmental movement is to worship the creation and not the Creator. Even going so far as to believe that the world came about by pure accident--which is what a belief in evolution without the hand of God being squarely in the mix actually is. It is as absurd to think that as it is to seriously claim betting on long shots is the same as a sure thing.

"The fool says in his heart, 'There is no God.' They are corrupt doing abominable iniquity; there is none that does good." (Psalm 53:1) ESV

Every act of planting a garden should be accompanied by praise to the God of Heaven... Each time we witness a breathtaking sunset--free of the taint of smog--we should honor our maker. Every time we do something to keep our environment from being cluttered, we are saying to our triune God--the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit--"I love you Father! Thank you for this beautiful Earth! I am so looking forward to the New Heaven and the New Earth! This is Your world, Father! I am Your child! Amen!"
