The calculation is as follows:

✿ Adam to Noah 10 generations
✿ Noah to Abraham 10 generations
✿ From Abraham to David are fourteen generations
✿ From David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and
✿ From the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.

Totally Adam to Jesus is 62 generations. (Mt. 1:17)

Hope these clarify

This is a difficult question involving how a generation is defined and why they can be skipped upon occasion. Spiritually speaking, a generation requires that the son be like the father ("if ye were the sons of Abraham ye would do the works of Abraham," John 8:39). This may be a reason certain figures were not included in official genealogies of the Bible. The count can vary from 62 to 66 generations.

Technical details can be found at https://ebible.com/questions/548-is-there-an-error-in-the-counting-of-the-generations-in-matthew-chapter-1. Also, the Wikipedia article at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matthew_1:17 is of interest.

According to the Gospel of Luke Chapter 3 there were 76 generations from God creating Adam to Jesus, or 75 if you dont count Adam being the son of God (depending on wheter you include god into this question).
To calculate this, just simply count how many times in the Chapter Luke uses the term " the son of."
