What is God's 'true nature'?

Most Christians say and think that God's true nature is love, as Jesus said in the book of John 3:16. Is this correct or not? I would like to understand what God's true nature is before I read the Bible. I think I can understand the Bible better if I clearly know his true nature is.

John 3:16

ESV - 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

I humbly submit that to really just have a basic understanding of God's very complex true nature, one must journey through His Word first, laboring for the buried nuggets.
Mark 4:11

Simply stated to do otherwise, would be like standing outside a building and then stating what the inside looks like or contains, based only on your outside view. Friend maybe this fifty-fifty gamble would not be a wise choice, when your soul or the souls of your loved ones hang in the balance.Luke 9:25

There are few things that God Himself calls precious among them are the blood of His son Jesus and His promises, now let's ponder His promises for a moment. 2 Peter 1:4
I submit that it's through His promises that we humans, may so to speak tunnel straight into the very complex natures of God, for the sick He is the healer, for a widow or the fatherless the provider. For whatever you may need and when ever your time of need, He's ready friend. Psalms 91:15

Hosea 4:6
It's as if long ago God wrote heavenly checks (a promise to pay) on His kingdom account for the care of His growing family, but they will do no good until you cash them.
And the more you cash them in, now all those lone puzzle pieces are coming together to reveal an amazingly complex beautiful portrait of the Creator who wrote them, note a check book register log speaks volumes on the account holders character via the listed transactions.

I submit this is why giving a praise report for what the Lord did for you is so important, as your puzzle piece could be just what someone else needs to hear as they humbly wait for their own check to be cashed, bottom line friend to know this author you really DO need to read His book.

In the Lord's freedom joyfully living all His promises, warrior on.

The only way you are going to understand God's true nature is by reading the Bible. God is love. But there is more to God than love.God is truth, He is patient, He is vengeful. Jesus is the perfect reflection of God. So read about him in the Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. But don't stay in the New Testament; the Old Testament shows a lot of who God is too, because God has never changed.
