Should we be associated with non-believers?

I feel that we should interact with non-believers because we could influence them and maybe eventually lead them to Jesus. Is it wrong to be friends with non-believers?

I believe it is our sovereign responsibility to interact with non believers. We were sent to teach the gospel to every corner of the earth. Paul and the Apostles specifically went where Christ was not known in order to plant seeds and bring fruit to the Kingdom. We don't have to go to the corners of the earth if we are not called but there is not a lacking of unbelievers that surround us.

Somewhere I read that those born again have at least 15 interactions with non believers. By the end of five years, as the faith has grown, those interactions have been cut to two. As faith grows aren't we mandated, by Jesus, to share the Good News with those who have not heard it? Quit surrounding yourself with only believers. Begin to bring others to the Kingdom.
