Our sins, made in secret or out in the open, eventually are revealed and friends, family and everyone, far or near, is getting hurt, especially if we are professing to be Christians. 

That would be the human aspect of our sinful life; however, there is another aspect that is so much more important. Christ died for our sins and because of His sacrifice, in His blood, we find salvation. Christ on the Cross took upon Himself humanity sin; all sins, past, present and future. 

But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, every one, to his own way; and the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all (Isaiah 53:5-6).

For every sin, no matter how small or insignificant, Jesus paid a price. There is no private sin, and for my sins and everyone else's sins Christ suffered on the Cross. Regardless if my spouse, church family, friends coworkers or neighbors are aware or not of my sins; Jesus knows and suffered for them.

In 1 John 3:6 says, "No one who lives in him (is a born again believer) keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him".

1 John 3: 9 says No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God's seed (the Holy Spirit) remains in them; they cannot (wilfully) go on sinning because they have been born of God."

In John 2:1 we read "My dear children, I write this to you so you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father - Jesus Christ, the Righteous One."

And John 1:6-7 says "If we claim to have fellowship with him (God) and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. But if we walk in the light as he is in the light, we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin."

When we wilfully live in private sin, the following are true:

1. We have no fellowship with God
2. We have no fellowship with other Christians
3. Our sinfulness grows into other areas of our lives (like a cancer)
4. Our thoughts, words and actions become increasingly reflect the sin in our hearts. God calls it evil and wickedness
5. God will discipline us to turn us away from our sin. These consequences can be very painful and crises like if our hearts are stubborn and we don't respond to God.

These are just a few examples of the affects on our lives and others when we wilfully continue in secret sin.

When we live in the light, the following is true:

1. We will confess all our known sins to God and to other people (when we have harmed them).
2. We will have intimate, daily fellowship with God (creator of the universe)
3. We will have intimate friendships and fellowship with other Christians
4. The Holy Spirit will empower us to break free from the hold that any sin has on our lives
5. The Holy Spirit will guide and direct us to live a life that pleases God

There are many other positive examples of the benefits of bringing all our sin into the light of God's truth, allowing God to forgive us, cleanse us and empower us to live a holy life.
