Wet dreams / nocturnal emissions are fairly common in the lives of men. The Bible mentions "emissions" in a few places (Leviticus 15:16,18,32; 22:4; Deuteronomy 23:10). Deuteronomy 23:10 specifical...

One of the statements by Mr. Houdmann is very incorrect. "A nocturnal emission is a natural bodily function that is made more frequent by sexual over-stimulation." The portion about it being a natural bodily function is correct, the portion of it being more frequent by sexual over stimulation is not. My opinion is based on medical practice of over 25 years. What is fact is that no one really knows what stimulates nocturnal emissions. Sometimes the dream stimulus is sexual, sometimes it's not. All medicine knows is that it is a stimulus from the brain that has an effect on the sex organs of both men and women. Sin is something conscious, a nocturnal emission is not. In that fact I do not believe a nocturnal emission is sin. That you could have been dreaming about, especially if you were re-living an actual event, could be sin, or may not be. For instance, having a nocturnal emission while dreaming of one's own wife would not be sinful at all. Just some things to think about from a medical perspective.
No, having a wet dream is not a sin. You only sin when you break one of God's Laws. Where there is no law, there can be no sin. Rom 4:15. There is no law against wet dreams, so there is no sin involved. It's as simple as that. Deuteronomy 23:10 does say that a man is "unclean because of a nocturnal emission" in the same way that a woman having a period was said to be ceremonially unclean. But ceremonial uncleanness is not sin. The two are quite different. A man having a wet dream is no more sinful than a woman having a period. And ceremonial uncleanness no longer applies to anyone, as the ceremonial law is fulfilled in Christ and now no one is unclean. Regards, Philip
When did dreams became sins? How can you even think this way. Are we also sinning when we dream about stealing something or about doing another unlawful activity? A dream is a dream and all of us will have them sometimes no matter what you do. I further believe that it is not required from anyone of us to stay outside our towns - villages until evening just because we are having dream, old testament times were different, medical care was different too and people were required to leave camp because 'wet dream' might have been actually first sign of certain type of sickness or condition. Thank you, Paul.
No, not every wet dream is a sin. I think it is a God-given gift for men, including Christian men, to have their body relieved in this way. If this happens at night as it usually does, then men function better in the daytime with less lustful thoughts and actions. And lustful thoughts or actions would be sin.
