Yes I believe Jesus could have refused to be crucified. He knew what he was waiting for on the other side. He knew what his mission was and was willing to wait and endure for just a short time. Jesus sets the example for us by waiting and enduring pain and torture. We too must wait, like Jesus did, because of what an amazing paradise that is being prepared prepared for us. In the meantime, if we ask Him for it we can have joy right now, even in the midst of your serious problems... whatever they may be. If you will learn to enjoy God I believe the reward that he will have for us will be beyond anything we can possibly imagine. And I think, because of his love for us and his knowing what is in store for us was a tremendous motivating factor for him to proceed with the horrific death awaiting Him.
