But Jehoshaphat said, "Is there no prophet of the LORD here, that we may inquire of the LORD by him?" So one of the servants of the king of Israel answered and said, "Elisha the son of Shaphat is here, who poured water on the hands of Elijah."
"Are not the Abanah and the Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? Could I not wash in them and be clean?" So he turned and went away in a rage.
"Can the papyrus grow up without a marsh? Can the reeds flourish without water?
Now the flood was on the earth forty days. The waters increased and lifted up the ark, and it rose high above the earth.
Peleg lived thirty years, and begot Reu.
Reu lived thirty-two years, and begot Serug.
After he begot Terah, Nahor lived one hundred and nineteen years, and begot sons and daughters.
"You shall buy food from them with money, that you may eat; and you shall also buy water from them with money, that you may drink.
"For we have heard how the LORD dried up the water of the Red Sea for you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to the two kings of the Amorites who were on the other side of the Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom you utterly destroyed.
"There let Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him king over Israel; and blow the horn, and say, 'Long live King Solomon!'
Then Zadok the priest took a horn of oil from the tabernacle and anointed Solomon. And they blew the horn, and all the people said, "Long live King Solomon!"
And the king said, "The one says, 'This is my son, who lives, and your son is the dead one'; and the other says, 'No! But your son is the dead one, and my son is the living one.' "
"For thus says the LORD: 'You shall not see wind, nor shall you see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water, so that you, your cattle, and your animals may drink.'
That they were engraved on a rock With an iron pen and lead, forever!
