Seven Woes to the Scribes and Pharisees

³² _u Fill up, then, the measure of your fathers. ³³ You serpents, _v you brood of vipers, how are you to escape being sentenced to _w hell? ³⁴ _x Therefore _y I send you _z prophets and wise men and _a scribes, _b some of whom you will kill and crucify, and _b some you will _c flog in your synagogues and _d persecute from town to town, ³⁵ so that on you may come all _e the righteous blood shed on earth, from the blood of innocent _f Abel to the blood of _g Zechariah the son of Barachiah, ₁ whom you murdered between _h the sanctuary and _i the altar. ³⁶ Truly, I say to you, _j all these things will come upon this generation.
