Mark 1:4-8

John the Baptist Prepares the Way

⁴ _f John appeared, baptizing in _g the wilderness and proclaiming _h a baptism of _i repentance _j for the forgiveness of sins. ⁵ And all the country of Judea and all Jerusalem were going out to him and were being baptized by him in the river Jordan, _k confessing their sins. ⁶ Now John was _l clothed with camel's hair and _l wore a leather belt around his waist and ate _m locusts and _n wild honey. ⁷ And he preached, saying, _o "After me comes he who is mightier than I, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie. ⁸ _p I have baptized you with water, but _q he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit."
