The Promise of the Holy Spirit
The former account I made, O a Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach,
b until the day in which He was taken up, after He through the Holy Spirit c had given commandments to the apostles whom He had chosen,
d to whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God.
e And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, "which," He said, "you have f heard from Me;
g "for John truly baptized with water, h but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now."

It seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write to you an orderly account, most excellent Theophilus.
So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God.
Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight.
Who also said, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.
"beginning from the baptism of John to that day when He was taken up from us, one of these must become a witness with us of His resurrection."
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.
So Jesus said to them again, "Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.
And He commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify that it is He who was ordained by God to be Judge of the living and the dead.

"Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high."
And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever -
The Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.
But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me.
Therefore being exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear.
I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
"I indeed baptized you with water, but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit."
John answered, saying to all, "I indeed baptize you with water; but One mightier than I is coming, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to loose. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
"I did not know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water said to me, 'Upon whom you see the Spirit descending, and remaining on Him, this is He who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.'
"Then I remembered the word of the Lord, how He said, 'John indeed baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit.'
And it shall come to pass afterward That I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your old men shall dream dreams, Your young men shall see visions.
