z Now it came to pass, about eight days after these sayings, that He took Peter, John, and James and went up on the mountain to pray.
As He prayed, the appearance of His face was altered, and His robe became white and glistening.
And behold, two men talked with Him, who were a Moses and b Elijah,
who appeared in glory and spoke of His decease which He was about to accomplish at Jerusalem.
But Peter and those with him c were heavy with sleep; and when they were fully awake, they saw His glory and the two men who stood with Him.
Then it happened, as they were parting from Him, that Peter said to Jesus, "Master, it is good for us to be here; and let us make three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah" - not knowing what he said.
While he was saying this, a cloud came and overshadowed them; and they were fearful as they entered the d cloud.
And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, e "This is My beloved Son. f Hear Him!"
When the voice had ceased, Jesus was found alone. g But they kept quiet, and told no one in those days any of the things they had seen.

And it came to pass, when the LORD was about to take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal.
Now, as he was speaking with me, I was in a deep sleep with my face to the ground; but he touched me, and stood me upright.
Yet I heard the sound of his words; and while I heard the sound of his words I was in a deep sleep on my face, with my face to the ground.
Then He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, "What? Could you not watch with Me one hour?
And He came and found them asleep again, for their eyes were heavy.
And when He returned, He found them asleep again, for their eyes were heavy; and they did not know what to answer Him.
And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so as to go by day and night.
Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight.
