The Lord's Relentless Judgment on Israel
When Ephraim spoke, trembling,
He exalted himself in Israel;
But when he offended through Baal worship, he died.
Now they sin more and more,
And have made for themselves molded images,
Idols of their silver, according to their skill;
All of it is the work of craftsmen.
They say of them,
"Let the men who sacrifice kiss the calves!"
Therefore they shall be like the morning cloud
And like the early dew that passes away,
a Like chaff blown off from a threshing floor
And like smoke from a chimney.
"Yet b I am the LORD your God
Ever since the land of Egypt,
And you shall know no God but Me;
For c there is no savior besides Me.
d I knew you in the wilderness,
e In the land of great drought.
f When they had pasture, they were filled;
They were filled and their heart was exalted;
Therefore they forgot Me.
"So g I will be to them like a lion;
Like h a leopard by the road I will lurk;
I will meet them i like a bear deprived of her cubs;
I will tear open their rib cage,
And there I will devour them like a lion.
The wild beast shall tear them.
"O Israel, you are destroyed,
But your help is from Me.
I will be your King;
j Where is any other,
That he may save you in all your cities?
And your judges to whom k you said,
'Give me a king and princes'?
l I gave you a king in My anger,
And took him away in My wrath.
"The m iniquity of Ephraim is bound up;
His sin is stored up.
n The sorrows of a woman in childbirth shall come upon him.
He is an unwise son,
For he should not stay long where children are born.
"I will ransom them from the power of the grave;
I will redeem them from death.
o O Death, Grave, I will be your destruction!
p Pity is hidden from My eyes."
Though he is fruitful among his brethren,
q An east wind shall come;
The wind of the LORD shall come up from the wilderness.
Then his spring shall become dry,
And his fountain shall be dried up.
He shall plunder the treasury of every desirable prize.
Samaria is held guilty,
For she has r rebelled against her God.
They shall fall by the sword,
Their infants shall be dashed in pieces,
And their women with child s ripped open.

The ungodly are not so, But are like the chaff which the wind drives away.
The nations will rush like the rushing of many waters; But God will rebuke them and they will flee far away, And be chased like the chaff of the mountains before the wind, Like a rolling thing before the whirlwind.
Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver, and the gold were crushed together, and became like chaff from the summer threshing floors; the wind carried them away so that no trace of them was found. And the stone that struck the image became a great mountain and filled the whole earth.
I, even I, am the LORD, And besides Me there is no savior.
I, even I, am the LORD, And besides Me there is no savior.
Tell and bring forth your case; Yes, let them take counsel together. Who has declared this from ancient time? Who has told it from that time? Have not I, the LORD? And there is no other God besides Me, A just God and a Savior; There is none besides Me.
Look to Me, and be saved, All you ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other.
1 Timothy 2:5
For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus.
"For the LORD your God has blessed you in all the work of your hand. He knows your trudging through this great wilderness. These forty years the LORD your God has been with you; you have lacked nothing."'
He found him in a desert land And in the wasteland, a howling wilderness; He encircled him, He instructed him, He kept him as the apple of His eye.
Who led you through that great and terrible wilderness, in which were fiery serpents and scorpions and thirsty land where there was no water; who brought water for you out of the flinty rock.
Lest - when you have eaten and are full, and have built beautiful houses and dwell in them.
When your heart is lifted up, and you forget the LORD your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.
Deuteronomy 32:13 - 15
He made him ride in the heights of the earth, That he might eat the produce of the fields; He made him draw honey from the rock, And oil from the flinty rock.
How shall I pardon you for this? Your children have forsaken Me And sworn by those that are not gods. When I had fed them to the full, Then they committed adultery And assembled themselves by troops in the harlots' houses.
He has been to me a bear lying in wait, Like a lion in ambush.
For I will be like a lion to Ephraim, And like a young lion to the house of Judah. I, even I, will tear them and go away; I will take them away, and no one shall rescue.
Therefore a lion from the forest shall slay them, A wolf of the deserts shall destroy them; A leopard will watch over their cities. Everyone who goes out from there shall be torn in pieces, Because their transgressions are many; Their backslidings have increased.
2 Samuel 17:8
For," said Hushai, "you know your father and his men, that they are mighty men, and they are enraged in their minds, like a bear robbed of her cubs in the field; and your father is a man of war, and will not camp with the people.
Let a man meet a bear robbed of her cubs, Rather than a fool in his folly.
Who ate the fat of their sacrifices, And drank the wine of their drink offering? Let them rise and help you, And be your refuge.
1 Samuel 8:5
And said to him, "Look, you are old, and your sons do not walk in your ways. Now make us a king to judge us like all the nations.
1 Samuel 8:6
But the thing displeased Samuel when they said, "Give us a king to judge us." So Samuel prayed to the LORD.
1 Samuel 8:7
And the LORD said to Samuel, "Heed the voice of the people in all that they say to you; for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me, that I should not reign over them.
1 Samuel 10:17 - 24
Then Samuel called the people together to the LORD at Mizpah.
Is this not laid up in store with Me, Sealed up among My treasures?
Vengeance is Mine, and recompense; Their foot shall slip in due time; For the day of their calamity is at hand, And the things to come hasten upon them.
My transgression is sealed up in a bag, And You cover my iniquity.
But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God.
And they will be afraid. Pangs and sorrows will take hold of them; They will be in pain as a woman in childbirth; They will be amazed at one another; Their faces will be like flames.
Now why do you cry aloud? Is there no king in your midst? Has your counselor perished? For pangs have seized you like a woman in labor.
Be in pain, and labor to bring forth, O daughter of Zion, Like a woman in birth pangs. For now you shall go forth from the city, You shall dwell in the field, And to Babylon you shall go. There you shall be delivered; There the LORD will redeem you From the hand of your enemies.
1 Corinthians 15:54
So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: "Death is swallowed up in victory.
1 Corinthians 15:55
"O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?"
You have forsaken Me," says the LORD, "You have gone backward. Therefore I will stretch out My hand against you and destroy you; I am weary of relenting!
Then behold, seven thin heads, blighted by the east wind, sprang up after them.
At that time it will be said To this people and to Jerusalem, "A dry wind of the desolate heights blows in the wilderness Toward the daughter of My people - Not to fan or to cleanse -
A wind too strong for these will come for Me; Now I will also speak judgment against them.
Behold, it is planted, Will it thrive? Will it not utterly wither when the east wind touches it? It will wither in the garden terrace where it grew." '
But she was plucked up in fury, She was cast down to the ground, And the east wind dried her fruit. Her strong branches were broken and withered; The fire consumed them.
2 Kings 18:12
Because they did not obey the voice of the LORD their God, but transgressed His covenant and all that Moses the servant of the LORD had commanded; and they would neither hear nor do them.
2 Kings 15:16
Then from Tirzah, Menahem attacked Tiphsah, all who were there, and its territory. Because they did not surrender, therefore he attacked it. All the women there who were with child he ripped open.
