Moses Makes New Tablets
And the LORD said to Moses, a "Cut two tablets of stone like the first ones, and b I will write on these tablets the words that were on the first tablets which you broke.
"So be ready in the morning, and come up in the morning to Mount Sinai, and present yourself to Me there c on the top of the mountain.
"And no man shall d come up with you, and let no man be seen throughout all the mountain; let neither flocks nor herds feed before that mountain."
So he cut two tablets of stone like the first ones. Then Moses rose early in the morning and went up Mount Sinai, as the LORD had commanded him; and he took in his hand the two tablets of stone.
Now the LORD descended in the e cloud and stood with him there, and f proclaimed the name of the LORD.
And the LORD passed before him and proclaimed, "The LORD, the LORD g God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in h goodness and i truth,
j "keeping mercy for thousands, k forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, l by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and the children's children to the third and the fourth generation."
So Moses made haste and m bowed his head toward the earth, and worshiped.
Then he said, "If now I have found grace in Your sight, O Lord, n let my Lord, I pray, go among us, even though we are a o stiff-necked people; and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us as p Your inheritance."

'And I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke; and you shall put them in the ark.'
And He wrote on the tablets according to the first writing, the Ten Commandments, which the LORD had spoken to you in the mountain from the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly; and the LORD gave them to me.
And let them be ready for the third day. For on the third day the LORD will come down upon Mount Sinai in the sight of all the people.
Now Mount Sinai was completely in smoke, because the LORD descended upon it in fire. Its smoke ascended like the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountain quaked greatly.
Then the LORD came down upon Mount Sinai, on the top of the mountain. And the LORD called Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up.
You shall set bounds for the people all around, saying, 'Take heed to yourselves that you do not go up to the mountain or touch its base. Whoever touches the mountain shall surely be put to death.
'Not a hand shall touch him, but he shall surely be stoned or shot with an arrow; whether man or beast, he shall not live.' When the trumpet sounds long, they shall come near the mountain."
Exodus 24:9 - 11
Then Moses went up, also Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel.
And the LORD said to Moses, "Behold, I come to you in the thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with you, and believe you forever." So Moses told the words of the people to the LORD.
Then He said, "I will make all My goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before you. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.
'The LORD is longsuffering and abundant in mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression; but He by no means clears the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generation.'
(for the LORD your God is a merciful God), He will not forsake you nor destroy you, nor forget the covenant of your fathers which He swore to them.
They refused to obey, And they were not mindful of Your wonders That You did among them. But they hardened their necks, And in their rebellion They appointed a leader To return to their bondage. But You are God, Ready to pardon, Gracious and merciful, Slow to anger, Abundant in kindness, And did not forsake them.
So rend your heart, and not your garments; Return to the LORD your God, For He is gracious and merciful, Slow to anger, and of great kindness; And He relents from doing harm.
Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?
For Your mercy is great above the heavens, And Your truth reaches to the clouds.
But showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.
Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases.
Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies.
To the Lord our God belong mercy and forgiveness, though we have rebelled against Him.
And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.
1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
But Joshua said to the people, "You cannot serve the LORD, for He is a holy God. He is a jealous God; He will not forgive your transgressions nor your sins.
If I sin, then You mark me, And will not acquit me of my iniquity.
Shall I count pure those with the wicked scales, And with the bag of deceitful weights?
The LORD is slow to anger and great in power, And will not at all acquit the wicked. The LORD has His way In the whirlwind and in the storm, And the clouds are the dust of His feet.
So the people believed; and when they heard that the LORD had visited the children of Israel and that He had looked on their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshiped.
Exodus 33:12 - 16
Then Moses said to the LORD, "See, You say to me, 'Bring up this people.' But You have not let me know whom You will send with me. Yet You have said, 'I know you by name, and you have also found grace in My sight.
" Go up to a land flowing with milk and honey; for I will not go up in your midst, lest I consume you on the way, for you are a stiff-necked people."
Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, The people He has chosen as His own inheritance.
For the LORD will not cast off His people, Nor will He forsake His inheritance.
