Betrayal and Arrest of Jesus

John 18

1 When Jesus had spoken these things, he went forth with his disciples over the brook Cedron, where there was a garden, into which he entered, and his disciples. 2 And Judas also, who betrayed him, knew the place: for Jesus gathered there often with his disciples. 3 Judas then, taking a company of soldiers and ministers of the high priests and of the Pharisees, came there with lanterns and torches and weapons. 4 Jesus therefore, knowing all the things that should come upon him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek ye? 5 They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus said unto them, I AM. And Judas also, who betrayed him, stood with them. 6 And when he said unto them, I AM, they went backward and fell to the ground. 7 Then he asked them again, Whom seek ye? And they said, Jesus of Nazareth. 8 Jesus answered, I have told you that I AM; if, therefore, ye seek me, let these go away, 9 that the word might be fulfilled, which he spoke, Of those whom thou gavest me I have lost none. 10 Then Simon Peter, having a sword, drew it and smote the high priest’s slave and cut off his right ear. The slave’s name was Malchus. 11 Then Jesus said unto Peter, Put up thy sword into the sheath; the cup which my Father has given me, shall I not drink it?
