The Siege of Jerusalem
l In the ninth year, in the tenth month, on the tenth day of the month, the word of the Lord came to me:
m "Son of man, write down the name of this day, this very day. The king of Babylon has laid siege to Jerusalem this very day.
And n utter a parable to o the rebellious house and say to them, Thus says the Lord God:
"Set on p the pot, set it on;
pour in water also;
put in it the pieces of meat,
all the good pieces, q the thigh and the shoulder;
fill it with choice bones.
Take the choicest one of the flock;
pile the logs under it;
boil it well;
seethe also its bones in it.
"Therefore thus says the Lord God: r Woe to the bloody city, to p the pot whose corrosion is in it, and whose corrosion has not gone out of it! Take out of it piece after piece, without making any choice.
For the blood she has shed is in her midst; she put it on s the bare rock; t she did not pour it out on the ground to cover it with dust.
To rouse my wrath, to take vengeance, I have set on the bare rock the blood she has shed, that it may not be covered.
Therefore thus says the Lord God: Woe to the bloody city! u I also will make the pile great.
Heap on the logs, kindle the fire, boil the meat well, mix in the spices, and let the bones be burned up.
Then set it empty upon the coals, that it may become hot, and its copper may burn, v that its uncleanness may be melted in it, its corrosion consumed.
w She has wearied herself with toil; its abundant corrosion does not go out of it. Into the fire with its corrosion!
On account of your unclean lewdness, because I would have cleansed you and you were not cleansed from your uncleanness, x you shall not be cleansed anymore till y I have satisfied my fury upon you.
z I am the Lord. I have spoken; it shall come to pass; I will do it. I will not go back; a I will not spare; b I will not relent; c according to your ways and your deeds you will be judged, declares the Lord God."

In the seventh year, in the fifth month, on the tenth day of the month, certain of the elders of Israel came to inquire of the Lord, and sat before me.
And he said to me, "Son of man, stand on your feet, and I will speak with you.
Son of man, propound a riddle, and speak a parable to the house of Israel.
Then I said, "Ah, Lord God! They are saying of me, 'Is he not a maker of parables?'
And whether they hear or refuse to hear (for they are a rebellious house) they will know that a prophet has been among them.
Who say, 'The time is not near to build houses. This city is the cauldron, and we are the meat.
Therefore thus says the Lord God : Your slain whom you have laid in the midst of it, they are the meat, and this city is the cauldron, but you shall be brought out of the midst of it.
This city shall not be your cauldron, nor shall you be the meat in the midst of it. I will judge you at the border of Israel.
2 Kings 4:38
And Elisha came again to Gilgal when there was a famine in the land. And as the sons of the prophets were sitting before him, he said to his servant, "Set on the large pot, and boil stew for the sons of the prophets.
1 Samuel 9:24
So the cook took up the leg and what was on it and set them before Saul. And Samuel said, "See, what was kept is set before you. Eat, because it was kept for you until the hour appointed, that you might eat with the guests." So Saul ate with Samuel that day.
And you, son of man, will you judge, will you judge the bloody city? Then declare to her all her abominations.
Woe to the bloody city, all full of lies and plunder - no end to the prey!
And utter a parable to the rebellious house and say to them, Thus says the Lord God : "Set on the pot, set it on; pour in water also.
They shall destroy the walls of Tyre and break down her towers, and I will scrape her soil from her and make her a bare rock.
I will make you a bare rock. You shall be a place for the spreading of nets. You shall never be rebuilt, for I am the Lord ; I have spoken, declares the Lord God.
Any one also of the people of Israel, or of the strangers who sojourn among them, who takes in hunting any beast or bird that may be eaten shall pour out its blood and cover it with earth.
Only you shall not eat the blood; you shall pour it out on the earth like water.
You shall not eat it; you shall pour it out on the earth like water.
For a burning place has long been prepared; indeed, for the king it is made ready, its pyre made deep and wide, with fire and wood in abundance; the breath of the Lord, like a stream of sulfur, kindles it.
I will scatter you among the nations and disperse you through the countries, and I will consume your uncleanness out of you.
Though you wash yourself with lye and use much soap, the stain of your guilt is still before me, declares the Lord God.
The Lord of hosts has revealed himself in my ears: "Surely this iniquity will not be atoned for you until you die," says the Lord God of hosts.
Thus shall my anger spend itself, and I will vent my fury upon them and satisfy myself. And they shall know that I am the Lord - that I have spoken in my jealousy - when I spend my fury upon them.
And all the trees of the field shall know that I am the Lord ; I bring low the high tree, and make high the low tree, dry up the green tree, and make the dry tree flourish. I am the Lord ; I have spoken, and I will do it.
Therefore, as I live, declares the Lord God, surely, because you have defiled my sanctuary with all your detestable things and with all your abominations, therefore I will withdraw. My eye will not spare, and I will have no pity.
God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?
1 Samuel 15:29
And also the Glory of Israel will not lie or have regret, for he is not a man, that he should have regret.
And there you shall remember your ways and all your deeds with which you have defiled yourselves, and you shall loathe yourselves for all the evils that you have committed.
But righteous men shall pass judgment on them with the sentence of adulteresses, and with the sentence of women who shed blood, because they are adulteresses, and blood is on their hands.
