Did Jesus ever refuse to help anyone who truly needed it?

Yes and no. It depends on how you define "need". Jesus was constantly rejecting the felt-needs of the people. While he healed many, Jesus left behind a crowd of sick people coming to him from all over the region of Galilee (Mark 1:37-38) to preach the good news. He only fed a large group of people two times during his ministry which means these people were hungry most of the times. He only raised two people from the dead: Jairus' daughter and Nazarus. The latter was only after Jesus intentionally waited three more days after he had received the news about the gravely sick condition. People were coming to Jesus for all the wrong reasons, namely their felt needs. Even his disciples followed him seeking power or independence from the Romans. Jesus was constantly rejecting the urgent, physical needs of those around him so that he can meet the ultimate needs of every people through all generations, namely the forgiveness of sins and salvation of their soul.
