Today many are very hungry for spiritual food. Israel would like its temple back. In Daniel 8:23-27 we are given a snapshot of the anti-Christ. We all agree, I believe, that peace in the middle east would be amazing! Somehow this very slick personality will accomplish this task. The temple will be returned. Impossible things will take place. Remember we are warned about false prophets. The unholy trinity will be in control. Even Satan could perform miracles... the Bible tells us so. Millions will be impressed! Then the boom will fall! He will turn on the people and demand worship of himself. SEE Revelation chapter 13. We must be very careful to only follow the ONE TRUE SHEPHERD! Let them that have ears to hear....

The Word says that those who do not listen to God will be deceived because they do not know the voice of God. In John 10:27 the scripture states that God's true sheep will know His voice. Those who know God's voice will not follow the anti-Christ. It's not necessarily that it will be easy to deceive people, but the fact is that people will follow him because they do not know God, so the anti-Christ will have no problem lying to people. God is truth, and whoever does not follow God knows no truth.

I believe 2 Thessalonians 2 tells us how the antichrist will be able to deceive so many. 2 Thessalonians 2: "1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, 2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. 3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. 5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? 6 And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. 7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. 8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: 9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, 10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. Verse 6 and 7 speaks of "what withholdeth"; "he who now letteth until he be taken out of the way". Verse 8. "And then shall that wicked be revealed". Christ told the disciples in John 16:8 that when the Holy Spirit would be given he would reprove the "world of of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:" which occurred at Pentecost.The word reprove in this context means to convict, find fault, to correct. I believe the Holy Spirit is the restrainer spoken of here and will continue as such according to God's will, timetable and prophetic plan (2 Peter 3). The present-day restraint will end upon the "calling out" or rapture of the Church. One can only imagine the evil, wickedness and chaos that will erupt after this event! And then shall that wicked be revealed who is after (out of, according to Satan) with all power and ability to deceive the unbelievers through his false miracles and lies. The unsaved will swallow everything he says and does, hook, line and sinker. Why are they so gullible? These did not receive the truth when truth was still available. Verse 11-12 is horrifying! "And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness." 2 Corinthians 6:2 "(For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)"

Various places across the bible it talks about the antichirst and gives images and glimpses about the end times. God allows this to happen, God allows the antichrist to have power on earth to deceive. Daniel is one such place that talks about the end times and we can gain a picture of the antichrist. Specifically in Daniel 8:23-26 we see what the antichrist will be capable of. And then in Daniel 8:25 we see that God will then destroy the antichrist - "but by no human hand". God will destroy the antichrist in His time, therefore God allows the antichrist power for that period of time. In Daniel 9 we also see some information relating to the end times, and here again we see God destroying the antichrist (the 'desolator') at the decreed end (Daniel 9:27). So in terms of your question - It is possible because God allows it to be possible.
