Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: Proverbs 1:7a, Proverbs 9:10a, Proverbs 2:5, Psalm 111:10a

Too many teach that "fear of the Lord" means to have respect, awe or reverence for God. This teaching leads to complacency.

This is the true meaning of "fear of the Lord”:

And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Matthew 10:28 NKJV

God seeks those who fear Him and His Word.

"For all those things My hand has made,
And all those things exist,”
Says the Lord.
“But on this one will I look:
On him who is poor and of a contrite spirit,
And who trembles at My word." Isaiah 66:2 NKJV

The Value of Wisdom:

My son, if you receive my words,
And treasure my commands within you,
So that you incline your ear to wisdom,
And apply your heart to understanding;
Yes, if you cry out for discernment,
And lift up your voice for understanding,
If you seek her as silver,
And search for her as for hidden treasures;
Then you will understand the fear of the Lord,
And find the knowledge of God.
For the Lord gives wisdom;
From His mouth come knowledge and understanding;
Proverbs 2:1-6 NKJV
