Is it Biblical that circumstances often get harder right before the breakthrough?
I often hear Christians say that trials will get harder right before the miracle happens and that is why we have to keep persevering. Is this a Biblical truth?

The Poster Boy for things getting harder just before the breakthrough is David, sitting at the burnt gates of Ziklag in I Samuel 30:1 He started out good: Samuel secretly anoints him as Israel's next king after Saul Becomes an instant hero when he slays Goliath and gives Saul's army an incredible victory. Marries the King's daughter, becoming Saul's son-in-law All Israel praises him even more than the king for his victories. Lives in the King's Court. But then Saul gets jealous: Saul tries to kill him repeatedly Runs him out of the Court Runs him out of town He is joined by every rebel who is against King Saul. Saul spends months trying to track down David and his rebel band hiding out in the wilderness, to kill him Finally, there is no place allowed him in Israel and he is forced into the territory of the Philistines, Israel's enemies, where he enters the service of a Philistine warlord. David and his band become bandits. They make a living plundering here and there. They operate out of Ziklag, a city they build and own. One day the Philistines go to war against Israel, but refuse to let David's warlord boss bring David and his band into the battle. So now David is rejected even by Israel's enemies! Returning to Ziklag, they find it burnt to the ground, all their stock stolen, even their wives and children all gone, with no idea who did it or where they were taken. Then they all sat down to weep. When they had no more strength to weep, they started planning to stone David to death. Ever been to your burnt gates of Ziklag? I've been there several times. What do you do, say "I've failed you guys. I've failed God. I've failed myself. Go ahead and stone me."? That's the temptation. But what did David do, sitting at the burnt gates of Ziklag, chronicled in Chapters 16 through 30 of I Samuel? In 30:6 it is recorded: "But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God." Immediately the whole world starts tilting back up straight, and by Chapter 2 of II Samuel, David is made King of Judah and by Chapter 5 Israel crowns him as their king!
