What does it mean that we are bought with a price?

1 Corinthians 6:19 - 20

KJV - 19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

This is ancient Jewish marital language - the bride is "bought for a price". A bride is no longer a property of her father, she is now a property of her husband.

And so when we read " you are not your own", like a bride, our body and spirit are now owned by our bridegroom Christ. The bride belongs to the bridegroom. (John 3:29)

If you read the rest of the text, the answer is there. The 'price' being the precious blood of Jesus as shed on the cross at Calvary.
