Why does this passage say, "For this reason a man will cleave to his wife and leave his father and mother," when there were no parents to speak of yet?

Adam was created by God and Eve was created from one of Adam's ribs. Why does the passage say, "For this reason a man will cleave to his wife and leave his father and mother" when they did not know about parents yet?

Genesis 2:21 - 25

ESV - 21 So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and while he slept took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. 22 And the rib that the Lord God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man.

Although there is no proof of who the author of Genesis is, it is said to be Moses. If it was Moses or not, we have to take in account that Genesis was written after the events had taken place. Therefore, when this verse was written, there were parents on the earth.
