There is no end to the compassion and love of God. Mostly we know Jesus as our Saviour. Jesus is the Word of God in flesh. Read the first few chapters of Revelation and study His character. Sympathy is sometimes a counterfeit for compassion. The Father, Son and Holy Spirit is the GodHead and cannot be separated. God is love and there is no end to His love but the kingdom of Heaven cannot be divided and therefor He is just also.

Many people get the idea of God not possessing these qualities from the fact that, John 1:17 say’s, “For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.” 

Sure, the law was harsh and deadly, as depicted in the way the Pharisee’s brought a woman to Jesus having been caught in the very act of adultery and wanting to stone her as the law permitted. John 8. 

But, since Jesus came with ”grace and truth” He showed ‘both’ when He said the truth,“Who among you is without sin cast the first stone!” 
And then showed grace when He said to her, "Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more." 

This was showing that a new day had arrived. God was always like that, but just took a time for it to appear. As this scripture does prove; 2 Corinthians 5:19, “To wit, that ‘God was in Christ’, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and has committed unto us the word of reconciliation.”

So, Does Jesus have more mercy, sympathy, and empathy than God the Father? No, not likely, as Jesus well said, “…he that has seen me has seen the Father “ John 14:9.

I and my father are one. Jn 10:30. So we cannot separate them in a true sense.
Jesus is the expression of God the father's love. Jn 3:16. 
Jesus is the visible expression of the father. Jesus is the manifested grace of God to all mankind. 
Jesus came to dampen the wrath of God the father by He himself bearing that wrath on the cross of Calvary. 
So you will agree therefore that Jesus is God the son expressing the love of God the father.
So we can not therefore say that the love of one is more than the love of the other.

It took love and mercy that only God could possess to provide humanity, despite its universal sin and evil, with a means to nevertheless have eternal life through God the Father giving His only-begotten Son (who has also been part of the triune God from eternity (John 3:16)) to die in order to accomplish that redemption.. 

It took love equally as great for God the Son to make that eternal life possible by willingly becoming fully human Himself (while also remaining fully God), and paying the whole penalty for sin, involving both physical suffering -- at the hands of the very humanity that He had been incarnated to save, while even asking for them to be forgiven for doing so (Luke 23:34) -- and spiritual suffering that none of us can ever fully comprehend, but which (thanks to Him) those who appropriate that payment for themselves through faith will not have to experience (Romans 5:8).
