How can I explain to people of opposing religions about the Hypostatic Union when I am confronted with Hebrews 1:3?

The short answer is that the verse you have mentioned is the greatest proof of the hypostatic union. The hypostatic union is the belief that Jesus is fully God and fully man, possessing two distinct complete natures in one person. According to Hebrews 1:3, Jesus has the exact same nature as God and is even given full divinity, note Hebrews 1:8 where the LORD calls Jesus God and again in Hebrews 1:10-12, which is quoting Psalms 103:25-26, a Psalm about Y*hweh, thus equivocating Jesus with the Father. Though Jesus always is God and never changes (Hebrews 1:10-12) we find that in Hebrews 2:17 that in all things Jesus was made like humans, if you will, made in our image, how humble is our God? That is what the incarnation is (Luke 2), so to explain this phenomenon of how Jesus is both God and man, never changing yet growing as a human (Luke 2:52) the doctrine of Hypostatic Union helps us understand these verses in Scripture, as you've noticed almost all of these passages refute Modalism (heresy of denying the Trinity which is a doctrine of three district persons in one indivisible God). Hebrews 1:3 is proof of Jesus' full divinity and in Hebrews 2:17 it is full proof of His humanity. In other words Hebrews 1:3 rather than attacking the Hypostatic Union of Christ is actually a cornerstone for it. Thank you for reading this response, God bless and good fishing.
