The phrase "pride of life" is found only once in the Bible, in 1 John 2:16, but the concept of the pride of life, especially as it is linked with the "lust of the eyes" and the "lust of the flesh,"...

It is talking about being more than we are.
A lot of navel gazing {its all about me.}
Thinking about how I can get it done.
Having the answer to every question.
Always having to be first.

We should put our brain in gear before we open our mouth, think about what we are saying. Be honest: do we really know, or are we just spouting out to be heard?

We must use wisdom and integrity in everything we do and say, be the persons that God has made us to be and nothing more.

I believe there are three characteristics that typify [ The World System ] as designated because of the fallen state of creation, that is dominated by Satan.

These three parallel the three types of sin John describes in 1John 2:16. These three are Narcissism, Hedonism, and Paganism.

Narcissism then would equate to the pride of life. Look at how our Politicians, our Movie Idols, and sadly even some famous Preachers fall because of Pride.

Proverbs 21:4, Romans 1:29-30, 2 Timothy 3:1-2 and also 2Thessalonians 2:4 all talk about pride and arrogance with 2 Thessalonians talking about The Antichrist.

I believe the pride of life is the Internal element of the three that drives evil and is so destructive it permanents to the core.
