No! Christianity is not intended to be a blind faith and it never has been. The field of Christian apologetics tackles this problem better than any other area of the ministry. Apologetics comes from the Greek word "apologia" meaning to make a defense for. That is exactly what Christianity has provided for you; a fact based defense that proves that the Christian faith is true and reliable.

Take Michael's example of Abraham. What escapes many Christians attention is that Abraham was talking with God. Abraham talked with Christ and angels. Abraham didn't have blind faith, he knew God was real. Abraham's faith was not only rooted in the real existence of God, but it was anchored in the character of God, and the belief that God would keep His promises.

Many people need to know today that God the Father is real, that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and walked this earth and died as a real person for our sins, and that the Bible is God's true, inerrant, inspired and living Word of truth.

To get you started, remember the acronym RAMP. R stands for the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The resurrection story of Christ has never been refuted or proven false. Many have tried and all have failed. Not one person has ever been able to produce a plausible and reasonable explanation that would refute the recounting told in the New Testament of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The A stands for archaeology. Not one archaeological fact or find has ever discounted any of the historical recounts of the old or new testaments. In fact, the opposite is true in that historical scholars have verified facts in the Bible as true. The pool of Siloam was thought to be fiction until an archaeological dig revealed the pool. Secular historical scholars have verified that a man referred to as Jesus of Nazareth was a real living person who walked this earth. The list goes on and on.

The M stands for miracles that Jesus Christ performed. Remember that at that time, no one discounted that the miracles were real. The Roman soldiers were amazed and the Pharisees and Saducees said that Jesus performed the miracles through the power of Satan. However, everyone saw and witnessed the miracles of feeding thousands, healing the lame and the blind and the sick, and bringing the dead back to life.

The P stands for prophecy. There are hundreds of prophecies in the Bible and approximately 60 of which are called Messianic prophecies dealing with the coming birth, life, torture, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The fact that the prophesies predicted in the Word for times up to the present have come true is, in my humble opinion, irrefutable proof.

For example, the Scriptures say that the savior would come from the lineage of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Judah, Jesse and be born in a small town called Bethlehem. The chance or odds that Jesus Christ could have accidentally been born from from this lineage and in the town of Bethlehem as predicted hundreds and thousands of years prior to His birth as predicted in the Old Testament Scriptures is 1 in 10 to the 17th power. That is 1 chance in 100,000,000,000,000,000. It's hard to understand a number this large unless we put it in a picture. 

10 to the 17th silver dollars would fill the entire state of Texas 2 feet deep. Mark one silver dollar with a red X. Blind fold a person and set them off across the state of Texas. That person has 1 chance to reach down blindfolded and pick the silver dollar with the red X. That is the mathematical probability that Jesus was born through that line and in that place by chance.

I suggest starting with a book called "More than a Carpenter" by Josh McDowell.

The R.A.M.P. to heaven proves Christianity is not a blind faith. Christianity is also not just a faith that requires intellectual assent. You must believe with your heart and profess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord. Christianity is not true because I have faith. I have faith because Christianity is true.

My short answer: Scripture makes numerous references to the deep meanings of what 'faith' is. The best one I find on this subject is 2 Corinthians 5:7 "for we walk by faith, not by sight". To me, this is a purity of belief, purity of total acceptance of God's 'only begotten Son, Jesus Christ' description explained to us in His Word of what FAITH really is. We are not depending on what we physically SEE with our human eyes, but take His Word as His eternal truth and with a pure heart, we BELIEVE on His name, Jesus Christ, THE SON OF GOD and our SAVIOR. 

Remember, we weren't there 2000 years ago to witness (SEE) His death on the cross and then to witness (SEE) His empty tomb on that Sunday morning. Nor, were we there to walk and talk with Him like His disciples. Nor were we able to be there to put (FEEL or TOUCH) our fingers in the "hole where the Roman soldier pierced His side" with his spear.

Jesus was only here on this Earth for a short time, but "He came to save that which was lost" and "has gone to the Father in Heaven, to sit at the right hand of God". 

"For we walk by faith, not by sight".
