Genesis 6:5-8 makes clear that all humakind alive at the time of the flood, except those whom God preserved on the ark, were separated from Him for eternity: 5 The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. 6 And the Lord was sorry that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him to his heart. 7 So the Lord said, “I will blot out man whom I have created from the face of the land, man and animals and creeping things and birds of the heavens, for I am sorry that I have made them.” 8 But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord.

The original continent inhabited by people before the time of Noah's Flood was destroyed by God. It is possible that every trace of human habitation was subducted by tectonic action along with the bodies of those that drowned at that time of global judgement. Any people who died and whose bodies floated to the surface or sank to the sea bed would have been rapidly consumed by sea-creatures. 

The continents that arose out of the Flood-waters were completely new, as God made a new world for Noah and those within the Ark. The fact that some rivers now bear the same names as the rivers of Eden is simply that Noah's people gave them names they remembered from the old world - rather like American cities that bear the same name as places in Europe, although there is no geographical connection.

Skeletons of humans from a distance age (such as Neanderthals) are most likely those that lived during the Ice Age that followed the Flood. Their strange shapes could be an indication of their living to a great age as well as living in harsh conditions with poor diet, interbreeding and STDs.

Ken van Zyl I am a retired South African educationist living in Brazil.

In my opinion, these bodies would have been scattered all over the face of the earth. Being openly exposed to the elements would have insured that the bodies deteriorated more rapidly, so that by the time any of the animals from the ark, plus the fishes in the seas and lakes, that came upon the remain of the cadavers, I should imagine only the bones were left. Plus God created strong winds to subdue and settle the water on the land.
