“And the Lord said, Arise, anoint him: this is he. And Samuel took the oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward” [1 Samuel 16:12-13]. This is the beginning of the dynasties of Israel. This is God’s anointed king to whom the Lord in heaven made covenant promise that he should never lack a son to sit upon his throne forever and ever [2 Samuel 7:12-16]. --this is the Davidic Covenant --WAC
